Therapist
Gabrielle Finley, MA & LCSW

(she/her)

I provide in-person sessions in New York City and online therapy throughout New York State.

I specialize in therapy for trauma and anxiety. My approach is focused on helping people who have faced difficult life experiences that may have left them feeling disconnected or stuck in self-defeating patterns. Through therapy, I work with clients to build resilience and a stronger connection to their deeply held personal values.

If you’re experiencing similar challenges, know that you’re not alone. Many people find themselves in cycles that impact their well-being and relationships. Together, we can work to break these patterns and foster a sense of connection, confidence, and growth.

My Journey to Becoming a Therapist

My path to becoming a therapist was shaped by life-changing experiences that strengthened my dedication to helping others. I witnessed the 9/11 attacks from my apartment downtown, which sparked a powerful desire to support people more directly. Shortly after, I began volunteering in a sexual assault and violence intervention program, providing crisis support to survivors in emergency rooms. This work deepened my commitment to standing up for people who often go unheard.

After graduate school, I worked at the World Trade Center Mental Health Treatment Program at Mount Sinai Medical Center. For ten years, I provided therapy to rescue and recovery workers, helping them heal from the impact of their experiences. This work shaped my understanding of trauma and resilience.

Prior to joining the Elevate team, I worked with the Center for Stress, Resilience, and Personal Growth at Mount Sinai Medical Center, where I led resilience workshops and offered therapy to healthcare workers, faculty, and students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Supporting those who serve our community through difficult times has been deeply meaningful to me, strengthening my commitment to helping others heal.

A Little About Me

Before entering the mental health field, I had a rewarding career in the culinary arts. I graduated from Cornell University in hospitality management, graduated from culinary school  Paris, worked in Michelin-starred kitchens, and even opened my own food truck.

Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, tennis, skiing, spending time in nature, and staying connected with my community.

Starting together.
